Back in 2007 major style lessons were taught to young teens. Every time I heard Your one and only source into the scandalous life of Manhattans elite I knew I was about to see the latest trends and how to bravely style them. Being a major Blair fan I started to wonder why did I even question my mother when she told me that red tights were perfectly okay with tartan skirts.
Years have passed and recent trend reports as well as catwalk photos show me that it is time to put in practice every stocking style lesson I learned. Should we thank Gucci for invading instagram with its patterned hosiery? I should think so, yes.
But now the real world part of this major trend… The textile industry is the second most polluting industry in the world. If you’re anything like me, you might have been contributing to this waste, specially when it comes to hosiery. Why? Well, tights and socks always seemed to be a one use only garment due to poor quality (note that lack of quality doesn’t necessarily mean cheap hosiery), ready to be thrown away after the first ripped mesh. Sure I used nail polish for minor incidents, sure some of them lasted a bit longer. Not many. Still a waste. To make everything worst I might just be one of the very few people who thinks jeans are not that comfy so skirts, dresses, pants are my safe comfy option. Meaning I have a drawer filled with folded hosiery which is constantly being updated due to lack of quality. So allow me to introduce you to Swedish Stockings, a sustainable brand well aware of how hosiery is a wasteful business.
They’re the only sustainable hosiery brand in the world. They create their pantyhose from both pre and post-consumer nylon waste. The production process is a lot less harmful to the environment than traditional nylon production and they are consistently looking for innovative and cleaner ways to produce. They also have a recycling program, meaning they receive your old stockings from other brands and give you a discount code to buy new ones. Thousands of stockings have been recycled thanks to their recycling program. Pretty cool, right?
As for my looks, I had a lot of fun playing with colors, textures and prints. When it comes to hosiery you have endless options. Personally I don’t like seeing short net socks with jeans, I prefer them with pants (but this is a matter of personal style). Over the knee socks will always be a favorite of mine. Got those Clueless vibes and they´re a (good) journey to the 90´s, what’s not to love? You can wear them with over the knee boots and barely letting them show, with heels or flats. I only avoid wearing them with Chelsea boots since I don’t like to see the different lengths. When it comes to opaque tights, what I love the most is to play color block. Create your own color scheme and play with contrasts.
In my opinion, they are. Specially the tights. I was really impressed with the fabrics´ quality (and trust me, I tested it all because I’m a mess when it comes to hosiery). If you take good care of them I believe they’ll last longer than the usual.

Instagram hasn’t been exactly my favorite place for several reasons but I must admit that when it comes to discover the latest trends and coolest brands, it’s my number 1 source. Finding small brands is basically the reason I ignore all those WhatsApp group messages *cof cof*

E algo me diz que a consoada vai ser passada com um look deste género… tirando a camisola que, obviamente, terá de ser beeeeem mais larga…

A minha grande aposta foram os brincos. Fiquei tão entusiasmada com a possibilidade de criar várias peças únicas (que isto de seguir tendências é giro até andarmos todos vestidos de igual) que julgo ainda não ter esgotado todas as combinações. E como o estilo é pessoal e intransmissível, nada melhor que brincar com formas e cores e conjugar argolas e pendentes para criar (várias) peças exclusivas.
Não estou a exagerar quando vos digo que foram as caixinhas mais bonitas que alguma vez recebi. Tudo é pensado ao detalhe desde o saquinho de seda com as jóias (cada jóia vem num saquinho dentro de uma caixinha) até ao interior da caixa grande. Haverá melhor presente para abrir no dia de Natal?

When I first wrote about the Pajama Trend I knew I was dying to try it – I mean, going out in your pj and look that good, for real? What a dream. But I never found THE right one. So I never got to style that trend. That is, of course, until now.
When the opportunity to collaborate with Silk By Nancy came I knew right away I had to choose this white pj shirt. It was the missing luxurious monochromatic piece I was looking for to rock the PJ trend.
The title says it all: this silk beauty is the perfect fit. I´m not going to lie, it was hard styling this shirt. I blame the crazy amount of outfit options I came up with. Everything from culottes to palazzo pants and pleated skirts. Sneakers and stilettos. That´s why – SPOILER ALERT – this is not the last time you´ll be seeing this shirt around here. As a monochrome lover, I felt like I owed to the monochromatic Gods this first look. I went for high waist mom jeans to give the edgy touch and contrast with the classy shirt. The pumps are my all time favorite (bought them using a wedding as an excuse) and the only pop of color that this outfit needed. Besides from the lipstick (always add lipstick. Makes everything better). And because I always need to have a bit of print, a starry scarf.
In a world where you can´t walk down the street without finding someone wearing something that you also have (or worst, that you are wearing), brands like Silk By Nancy make you feel unique again. For someone who is slowly building a wardrobe with quality pieces, I must confess: a silk piece is a must have. Too soft, too luxurious, too stylish. (Now that was a long title) I guess it´s safe to say that I’ve been wearing on repeat several pieces that I now consider my personal must-haves.
When people who never notice anything fashion related start telling you that you´ve been wearing a lot the same pieces, I guess it´s safe to say that you´ve found your personal must-haves. I´ll probably be (over)packing them for summer vacations as well.
I must confess I´ve never seen so many different retro sunglasses in one season. Remember when EVERYONE had a pair of Ray Ban´s wayfarer? That was the time I got my Ray Ban´s Clubmaster. You know, ´cause someone had to be different. Next year everyone had them as well. That marked an entire season. But now we are assisting to a comeback of many different retro styles. From white round to colored lenses, that´s THE accessory to make you feel instantly cooler. Go on, re-create that Kurt Cobain iconic photo. My white sunnies are from Mango, they were love at first sight because they remind me of an old photo of my grandma wearing a very similar pair of sunnies.
This is probably the most Instagrammed (is this a word?) accessory of the season. I had this little round bag under my eyes for a while, hoping to get it on sales. She was nowhere to be seen online or in the stores. Then, on the most depressing day of my semester, I went to Zara and there she was. The last one on the shelf. We have been living happily ever since.
The bigger one I occasionally steal from my mom and style it with a scarf to match my outfit. I know it’s a classic beach bag, but since I´m not that much of a beach fan, I love wearing it in the city.
Why do you need a straw bag this summer? You can wear it everywhere unless you´re going to a cocktail party, it´s the easiest bag to style because it goes so well with all those typical summer clothes, you´ll never get bored of that bag because it´s seasonal.
I´m a hat person. It solves bad hair days, it gives that retro touch, it protects you from burning your brains in the summer and helps you face humidity during those awful rainy days. This is an old one from Natura and the black bow was a little DIY. Apart from a tracksuit, straw hats go with everything from tees&jeans to pretty dresses. Plus they add that instant “I’m on vacations” look.
Minimals will wear them with plain tees. Bold people with graphic prints. Either way, everyone is loving statement earrings (just read it here). Apart from getting stuck in my curls, I´m also a fan. Usually, I wear them with my hair up in a bun or ponytail and with basically everything. After seeing some of your inspiring photos on Instagram I decided I didn´t have enough earrings and bought the last pair on Bershka (I know, right? It was a surprise to me as well.).
You´ve seen them on my Instagram a lot and – spoiler alert – you will keep seeing them. More than earrings, during hot summer days there is nothing that I love more than wearing delicate necklaces. Most of the times I barely remember they´re hanging on my neck (which makes them perfect for this awful heat) yet they´re there, keeping me fashionable. This one was kindly sent to me by Aphrodite and it adds that cool boho chic vibe. I love the fact that it looks two necklaces yet it´s just one with layers.
And because you have to think outside the box, I styled it in two different ways. In the first one (as seen in the picture) I didn´t close the necklace clasp and just wrapped the necklace around my neck so it looks like a little choker and a bigger necklace. How to style delicate necklaces like a cool girl? Wear them with a tee, for sure. And make sure they´re not hiding. Also, summer necklines are perfect to show this kind of jewelry and the more the merrier.

The One. A million things pop into your head when you read these two words. The love of life, probably. But when it comes to fashion, we all have THE one. THE cozy stylish sweater you wear on and on, THE silk scarf that makes any outfit better, THE pair of shoes that make your day brighter. As most you know, THE accessory for me is a bag. Bags are my weakness and my bags are probably THE accessory that I keep impeccable storage. Each of them brings me such joy and reminds me of all the times I snapped at someone who dared to put my bag on the floor. You see, I take that “table for 3: you, me and my bag” very seriously.
