How to Style SS17 Best Trends – part I

It´s that time of the year again. Allergies slowly start taking control of your life. Bugs everywhere. It´s too hot for ¾ sleeves yet too cold for off-shoulders. I´d gladly skip Spring if it wasn´t for new clothes and accessories. Stores looking as bright as ever for the first time in months. The endless possibilities of new outfits and the return of old friends kept in the closet for so long. Brace yourselves for a series of posts giving you all the info you need to create the best SS outfits.

Spring Summer 17 is a voyage through different decades: a bit of fanciness from the 40´s, something from the 70´s, a lot from the 80´s, a touch of 90´s. Sounds at least eclectic, right? But you´ll be surprised to see how it all blends in.

TS3TL

There is nothing more feminine than a tea dress and Miuccia Prada sure knows it. Bringing the 40´s shape back with other decade´s prints, it´s easily styled with classic colorful coats and fancy loafers. If you´re thinking irreverent, try wear them with some cool sneakers. If you´re feeling classy, lace up shoes are always a good option.

Untitled design (30)

Think about Bianca Jagger and her white blazer. Now think about David Bowie as Ziggy Stardust. Feeling enough inspired already? So now we can talk about how shoulder pads are back and how cool will it be to style them. Make sure you know your proportions to understand what will suit you better because shoulder pads are pretty cool but also tricky to style. I usually avoid blazers with that kind of shoulders but I love cropped tops with bold shoulders. Here´s a little tip: when using shoulder pads try to pair them with something that marks your waistline (like a belt over a blazer, for example).

KENZO

Are they ever not a trend? There is something so visually appealing about metallics that makes us own at least a metallic piece each season, don´t you think? Metallic pieces allow you to play with different fabrics. Personally, I like to wear them with silk and lace pieces. I got a pleated midi skirt on sales last season (which you might have seen if you´re following me on Instagram) and I’m sure “she” will be a conversation starter the whole season.

5TS

Typically, you´d wear sequined dresses, tops, and even pants during the night, right? Think again. Creative directors and brands invite you to shine all day. For a more casual look, you can pair your shiny pieces with denim and sneakers or loafers.

Inked6TS_LI

Having a tendency for darker colors, this SS may just be a turning point for me. If, just like me, you always end up buying something black, take a look at Spring collections. You´ll realize bold colors are here to stay. It´s up to you to mix a bright yellow with black and stay in your comfort zone. But we all know the fun happens outside that zone so if you´re feeling up to a change, try mixing that strong red with pink. Just remember that you make the rules, so if you like the visual impact that the oddest color scheme creates, go for it.

P.S. Gradient color schemes or one colored outfits are always a good option if you´re looking for something less visual impacting in terms of contrast. You´ll get extra style points if you play with different fabrics.

7TS

Time to set your inner Sandy (the “Tell me about it, stud” version, of course!) free. Parkas and moto jackets. Lots of spikes. Studs. Perfect for styling with fishnets, graphic tees and for a more preppy look, floral dresses. It´s time to take your Doc Martens and Converse from the closet. But you know what else would look cool with all these 90´s pieces? Lace up shoes and a pair of edgy ballerinas.

So, any favorites so far? Let me know in the comment section how will you be styling these trends! Stay tuned for Part II 😉

Audaviv Jewelry

After receiving so many kind and thoughtful messages about my accessory game I decided to share with you some tips and tricks. Truth is, everyday life is not a street style glam photo but of course everyone wants to look their best. That´s why during the week I spice up my accessory game with tasteful delicate pieces. Lots of them. The secret is to layer the right pieces properly and I guarantee you you´ll have the most stylish results without looking like a walking Christmas tree 😉

Having lots of jewelry, I came to the conclusion that what was missing in my collection were delicate pieces to give a sophisticated yet casual look. The thing is, I had delicate necklaces and bracelets but after a while they lose color and shine and gain that ugly used look – that´s when I don´t have the courage to neither throw them away nor use them.

So when I became an Audaviv Ambassador my first pieces were – of course – delicate bracelets to build the perfect arm candy. Audaviv is the destination for independent brands whose work was carefully handpicked so you get that very personalized treatment that otherwise you wouldn’t have while shopping and you won´t find that much people wearing the same thing as you (i´m still waiting for the necklaces I want to re-stock, so you get the idea). Plus, you won´t have to scroll and apply lots of filters to hide tacky jewelry (which is new to me, because I find myself constantly doing that).

1

2

I never wear only one necklace. More is more. When the choker obsession (oh God, what a terrible name for a necklace!) became a serious thing, I started layering chokers with small delicate necklaces, mostly with little charms. During summer it´s also cool to layer with body chains.

3

This is my everyday motto. I grab several small necklaces and layer them by adjusting each with different lenght. That way you´ll have a slighty longer necklace and all the others will have smaller lenghts. The necklaces below are the ones on my Audaviv wishlist. The second one is currently out of stock so I guess I´ll have to wait until it´s back so that I can finally releash my inner Sailor Moon 😉

4

5

Arm Candy – the act of putting together random (or not…) pretty bracelets and accessories. Lots of them. Since I have a watch addiction (always remeber this place is a non-judgemental zone) I like to begin my arm candy with a good watch. Then I´ll add the bracelets that I believe that look good with the watch (e.g. rose gold watch, rose gold bracelets). So as you can see my arm candy is usually planned and almost never random.

6

I almost never use rings and bracelets on the same hand because most of times the final combination seems tacky to me (but hey, that´s just me!). Usually I think it´s better balanced having the rings on one hand and the bracelets and watch on the other. I also combine the rings and the bracelets (e.g. golden bracelets with golden rings).

7

This is probably the only bright rose bracelet I own. Or piece of jewelry. Everything else has a dusty rose shade. The reason why I love it so much is because it´s only one bracelet but looks like two (which means more layers therefore more hapiness to me). Because I´m a monochrome addict this bracelet is often the only pop of color. And trust me, it makes all the difference!

8

I wear my bracelets backwards all the time (and not because they slide – good thing about these beauties it´s they´re adjustable. It´s probably the first time I own jewerly that doesn´t fall off my tiny wrists). Just take a closer look. Wouldn´t it be a shame not to wear them both ways? You´ll also get 10 points for creativity.

9

Of course being an accessory lover I always pay attention to the details. Style is always in the details. In this case, the golden chain on my bag matches my little bracelets.

10

When you shop at Audaviv you feel special (and don´t we all like that?). You get your jewelry inside a gorgeous pink box perfect both on the inside and outside. Light pink paper, little bags with your order inside, a card, instructions on how to take care of your new pieces, … I think you´re getting the idea. That´s the thing about choosing startups – not only you´re supporting creative people but you´re also receiving in exchange what you wouldn´t get otherwise. Quality, personalization and a bunch of unique pieces.

Layering with Happy Socks

Just as important as the pieces you choose to wear is how you actually wear them – that´s how you show the world how stylish you are 😉 But believe me when I say that never in a million years I´d see myself embracing this new trend… Until, of course, I tried it. If you search between street style photos you´ll surely find lots of cool examples that will make you want to pair your most colorful socks with those amazing velvet shoes you wanted to buy so badly but still haven´t because, oh well, who wears winter sandals with socks?

When Happy Socks contacted me I knew I had to do this post. Fashion is all about taking risks and leaving your comfort zone, right? So that´s just what I did… Happy Socks are perfect to style because of its huge variety of cool prints and bright colors – who would want to hide them? Definitely worth looking at their amazing collection.

Quick tips to style shoes&socks: When in doubt, go for neutral socks. If you´re not a fan of big contrasts nor prints, stick with the same color (example: dark blue heels and baby blue socks). If you´re wearing socks with prints, try to pair them with something that has the same color scheme.

As always, i´d love to meet you on the comments section and know how you´ll be styling your socks & shoes this Fall 🙂

Fall Trend Report – Accessories

I may be a monochrome enthusiast and I may even love a lot more than I should a good minimal outfit. But when it comes to accessories I sure know ‘More is more and less is a bore’ (quoting Iris Apfel, the accessory God). Fact is, accessories are my personal everyday statements. So again, this season I can’t help but feeling a bit like Alice in Wonderland. There are so many accessories capable of changing an outfit instantly that I had to put an entire post together just for them. If you  follow me on Instagram you already know about my tiny bag addiction and you’ve probably seen some of the bags featured on this trend report. You see, I spent the whole August month carrying only one tiny little bag everywhere due to a monster called Luggage Space and not only I missed my collection but I also found they were all perfect for Fall. Blame it on creative directors. Again.

Nautical Hat

Nautical and military are obvious Fall trends almost every year. But in this particular case Gigi Hadid for Tommy Hilfiger was the cause for every fashionista’s inner sailor’s release.

Left Top: ASOS (Gigi Hadid for Tommy Hilfiger); Bottom Left: ASOS; Right: Vogue.com

The Beret

Tip n°1 to achieve the fabulous Parisian style. Perfect accessory for a really cold day but mostly for a bad hair day.

The Choker

I know by now you’re all proud owners of several chokers. Maybe even too much of them, but hey – i won’t tell how many I have and won’t ask you either 😉 So far we’ve seen simple one colored chokers. Fall brings new ones, much bolder and creative. Authentic victorian pieces, ready to help you take your layering game to the next level.

The Belt

When I think of vintage pieces belts are the first accessory to cross my mind (I’ll always be searching for the perfect black and gold Yves Saint Laurent logo belt). Gucci, where all the vanguard artists are, brought to Fall/Winter the famous logo belt as well as a sentiment of nostalgia and the temptation of a new – and quite expensive – acquisition. I shall not vacillate.

The Skinny Scarf

The versatile accessory. It can be a head accessory, a choker, a bracelet, a giant bow to your plain shirt.

The Statement Earrings

Because nothing screams more maximalism like bold jewelry.

The Mini Statement Bag

All time favorite, but that you already knew 🙂 Forget essentials like wallets with every single card you have and huge makeup bags because they won’t fit. And remember that phones these days belong on your hand. If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to carry inside your bag car and house keys.

Fall/Winter 16/17 Shoes

Like I told you on the first trend report, this Fall collections have too much information. Maximalism strikes again and you can spot its trace elements both on the clothes and accessories. I´ll be showing you what I believe to be the essential shoes for this season on this trend report and the next one will have all the accessories. Please note that it´s not my fault. Personally, I blame creative directors. The creative process of every important fashion house was just remarkable this Fall/Winter. I, of course, was a victim.

Loafers

It was Fall 2015 and Alessandro Michele had a perfect vision for Gucci. The loafers emerged and they´re not going anywhere anytime soon. If there´s any versatile shoe for this Fall, it´s the loafer. So, have you picked yours?

img_9394
Bottom Middle: Gucci (via net-a-porter.com); all the others: ASOS.com

Flat Slides

You´ve already seen them during summer and even last Fall. I must say I have mixed feelings when it comes to flat slides because I don´t find them that comfortable or practical. But i´ll tell you if this relationship makes any progresses. A piece of advice: don´t run while wearing them.

img_9395
Top Left: Gucci (via Vogue.com); All the others: ASOS.com

Mid-heel Shoes

Also known as “Granny Shoes” and definitely a very possible acquisition for this season. I find them very comfortable and super stylish, perfect to wear with frilled jeans and a cozy oversized knit (you know, for those days when you don´t want to put much thought on what you´re going to wear).

img_9399
Top Left : Chloé (via Farfetch.com); the others: ASOS.com

Ballerina Shoes

I didn´t love ballet very much when I practiced it but I did like my ballerina shoes very much and used to wear them around the house. You can transport yourself back to your childhood days with a classier version of ballerinas or an edgier one. Blame it on Miu Miu. As for my Bimba y Lola edgy ballet shoes, I find them perfect to wear with culottes.

img_9396
Top Right and Left: ASOS.com; Bottom Left: Miu Miu (via Vogue.com); Bottom Right: Bimba y Lola (old collection).

Mary-Janes

The classic. Is there anything more feminine than a good pair of Mary-Jane´s? Again, a good reminder of your childhood days. And because velvet is one of the main Fall fabrics, if you want a win-win situation, find yourself a pair of these in velvet. If you´re able to find something that goes terribly wrong with Mary-Janes, please let me know. I haven´t so far. P.s. a tracksuit doesn´t count. We´ll talk about athleisure later.

img_9398
Top Left: Dolce & Gabbana (via Farfetch.com); Top Right: Marc Jacobs (via Farfetch.com); Bottom: both ASOS.com

Ankle Boots

I know, I know. But history tends to repeat itself. So ankle boots are a thing, again. But this time the ankle boot trend comes bolder. You can choose from a huge variety of prints and play mix&match with your outfits now more than ever. If you´re not much of a bold prints kind of person, you still have lots of options: pvc, suede, velvet… everything with only one color or a little statement on the heel. Can you guess which one I daydream about? 😉

As always, I’d love to know what you think. Which are your favorites? See you in the comment section and stay tuned for the next trend report 🙂

Fall/Winter 16/17 Must Haves

After going through every Fall show I felt lost. Of course every designer has its own source of inspiration every season but Fall 2016 was too much at the same time to dissect. The same designer can take inspiration both from the Renaissance and Picasso, which is completely normal but very hard when you want to fully understand the statement that person is making.   Making sense of trends it’s not always easy, specially when the fashion industry is giving us so much to handle at the same time (from virtual shows to mixing both genders in the same show). This Fall I’ve decided to do a serie of Fall/Winter posts so that you won’t miss a thing. For the first one I chose The Must Haves. Why? Easy, I don’t really like heat. So in the middle of August I was already going through Fall clothes and dreaming about the cold days. And what better way to start than prepare yourself with this season’s key pieces? I promise I carefully analyzed every Vogue I could (and God bless Vogue Runway).

The Cape

The cape strikes again and this Fall you’ll be able to feel like a Game of Thrones character. I must confess my love for capes… You can be wearing a basic long sleeved shirt underneath and you won’t look basic. Looking for that comfy piece to add to your wardorbe? Here you have it. There’s only one little issue concerning the practicality of the cape (at least I have it with the ones I own) – you may want to reconsider using that large tote bag on your shoulder.

Victorian Shirt

Disclaimer: Please notice that the must haves are not in order (I noticed you could easily think I was playing dress up in the 16th century). Ruffled details, lots of white and see through fabrics plus some lace and dramatic pleated sleeves. When you put it that way it might sound too much and definitely not a versatile piece. But just think how you can create a ton of different looks all with different styles. One day you can wear it with an A-line printed skirt, over the knee socks and loafers and set your inner Blair Waldorf free and the other you can put on your moto leather jacket, some distressed denim jeans and ankle boots and feel a bit more like Prince.

Statement Knit/Sweater

There´s no way you´ll feel cozier than with an oversized sweater or piece of knit. And there´s no way you´ll be more stylish than the moment you´re wearing an oversized statement sweater or knit. There are no rules here, feel free to style it the way you want (we all have days when a pair of jeans will do and others when a pleated skirt would fit like a glove).

Velvet

Velvet for Fall/Winter is my favorite cliché. There´s something so edgy and flattering about it no matter what color you choose. Last Fall I did an entire post about velvet so feel free to check it and gather some inspiration 😉

Puffa Jacket

(Don´t you just love the name?)

After a never-ending affair with the Bomber Jacket (which I didn´t include in the must haves because by now i´m pretty sure my stylish readers already own at least one) it´s time for a cozier and warmer option. I spent several years hating puffa jackets and not wanting to use them because I didn´t find the “Michelin Toy” look funny at all… Years later I find myself tempted to buy one (don´t get me wrong, I still don´t like that “look” but I think I can manage to find a less exaggerated puffa jacket).

Fringes

I have a little problem here. I´m addicted to fringed sweaters, coats, bags, basically everything fringed. If you follow me on Instagram I´m sure you see a lot my fringed bag. From now on, you´ll be seeing a lot more pieces 🙂 Spoiler alert: I have a fringed cape.

Vinyl (PVC)

After seeing a lot of PVC boots (remembering Dior) I patiently waited for the return of plastic to the runways. Here it is, the perfect material to keep your outfits protected from rainy days and add that shiny touch.Personally, if I had to buy a vinyl piece I´d go for a midi A-line skirt. One of my favorite trench coats is a red vinyl piece that I usually wear with – of course – a total black outfit.

Military Jacket/Coat

We´ve been on with this trend for a while now. Is it ever going to leave us? Probabily. Will I ever stop wearing it? Of course not! If I did a list of all the military inspired pieces I have I´d be ashamed. So the only reason I´m not considering buying the coat from the first picture is because as much as I wanted to look like one of Napoleon´s soldiers I already own a long dark blue military jacket from Mango. Now the military blazer… that´s a different story. Here´s another perfect piece to pair with the victorian shirt and a vinyl skirt.

Left: Mango.com; Top Right: Zara.com; Bottom Right: Zara.com

Pleated Skirt

When the pleated skirts returned from the 50´s I wasn´t quite sure how to style them. It took me a while to put together outfits with pleated skirts. Lately, no one can complain about lack of inspiration when it comes to pleated skirts. Street style at its best shows us how they can be easily paired with statement sweaters and heels, a good pair of sneakers, long faux fur jackets and t-shirts. This season Zara has the most exquisite collection of pleated skirts, definitely worth checking.

Essential Summer Trends to Pack

Trouble packing – who doesn’t have it? I certainly do…I know I need to pack light but the fear of forgetting something tempts me every time I look at my suitcase. This post is your (and mine!) ultimate guide to pack summer essentials (and by that I mean the latest summer trends) and combine them. The main goal? Being able to close the suitcase without sitting on top of it. So grab a post-it and take as many notes as you need cause I’ve prepared a selection of very ‘instagramable’ pieces.

Bikini & Swimsuit

Two very easy things to pack that will allow you to create some very stylish outfits. The swimsuit can easily be transformed into a body that you can wear with shorts, jeans, flare pants or maxi skirts. Your creativity is your limit. I own several swimsuits (i´m guilty of finding them very flattering and elegant pieces, much more than bikinis) and frequently wear them out.

As for the bikinis, this season (just like last year) it´s difficult to understand the difference between some bikini tops and a crop top. Maybe it´s the universe telling you to wear your bikini top with high waist pants and spare a little extra room in your suitcase.

1) Moschino; 2) Blue Man; 3) Missoni

Hats

Just a quick question… How do you pack your hats?

Crochet and Lace

I´m a big fan of anything crochet (except for ugly granny-style cloths) and lace so some of my favorite cover ups are beautiful see-through pieces that you´ll want to wear both on the beach and to go out on warm summer nights or even during daytime. It will all depend on how you style them. I usually go for jeans and denim shorts and add some cool wedges instead of flats.

img_8818

Meet my Pull&Bear crochet swimsuit that I often use as a body. Paired it with high jeans from Mango, a Fossil watch and Raybans.

Sets, Light Dresses & Jumpsuits

Matchy-matchy is a thing. And what better way to do it than wear a two-piece? If you feel like wearing it together, do it. If you don´t, congratulations! You just won two more different outfits 😉

A wise man once said “a jumpsuit a day makes you forget that you´re having a bad hair day”. Ok, it wasn´t a wise man. It was me. But it has been my motto when it comes to bad hair days. Just tie your hair in a cute up-do or a high pony-tail and the attentions will all go straight to the jumpsuit.

Light dresses, silk dresses, slip dresses, everything that you usually take to the beach with flip-flops but can also wear daily with gladiator sandals or at night with heels. Again, the power of good accessories will amaze you and help you transform your outfits throughout the day.

Women´secret Espadrilles and Oysho dress.

Off-Shoulders

The biggest and most-seen-on-social-media trend (check this post for some cool ideas to wear off-shoulders) is also the most versatile. The trick, once again, it´s to master your accessory game. I´ve made a small chart to give you some ideas to improve any off-shoulders look and take it to another level (those levels being the beach, a casual night out, a daily outfit, or an occasion that requires shiny jewelry).

Espadrilles

Flats and wedges. Pack them both. Why? See all the other trends above.

New Categories / Novas Categorias

When I started Dissecting The Look I was new at this blogging thing. I knew what kind of blog I wanted to have and though I also knew I´d like to blog about more than just fashion I wasn´t sure how this would turn out. I was also developing ideas that had been on my mind for years, changing my opinion about the fashion industry so it was much more practical to blog only about Fashion. Slowly I added one more category – Decor.

Now, almost 2 years later (can´t believe it´s been that long!) it´s time to change things a bit around here and create new content that I´ve wanted to share with you from the very start but didn´t know how to properly do it. That said, I´ll add other categories fashion related and introduce the new sub-categories and categories each with a new post. I´m looking forward to show you the new categories and posts I´ve been working on as well as receiving feedback from you.

A big thank you to each one of you. Nothing would be possible without your amazing support, precious advice and kind words. I can´t thank you enough for making all of this possible 🙂

The Bonnit

When It comes to rainy days I’m never happy about my outfit or my hair. I believe most of you understand what I’m talking about… Sometimes you even have a great outfit prepared and then you come to realize that it won’t work either because it’s not practical or just because you don’t feel like wearing it. Spring in Portugal it’s usually very pleasant. However, this Spring we’ve been dealing with considerable amounts of water. Non Stop. So it was the perfect time to try some new trends. One of my major problems about rainy days was spending the entire day hidden in a trenchcoat and trying to keep my hair dry. Not only was insignificant if I was wearing a tracksuit under but I also would always end up ruining my hair due to humidity issues (my curls don’t deal very well with that kind of weather). Of course this was all about to change because of a streetstyle photo from fashion week and a very special Instagram account. That was the moment I realized transparent trenchcoats and jackets would save my outfit and bonnets would keep my hair perfect (just ask Rihanna if you have any doubts about it). As for trenchcoats, of course I fell for the Burburry transparent trench. But as for the bonnet… Well, that’s another thing.

I found The Bonnit through Instagram and instantly fell in love with the concept. As a vintage lover, I’m thrilled whenever people give life again to old trends. And The Bonnit was no exception (just look at their logo!). Until I found them on Instagram I never saw an affordable yet stylish bonnet. The design is amazing, the patterns they offer are very fashionable (I almost couldn’t choose between the little stars and the polka dots and feathers). Each Bonnit package contains two Bonnits, one simple and the other with pattern. They were kind enough to send me a package and I can assure you their costume care is marvelous, so I would recommend them to anyone.

I’d love to know your thoughts on this trend!

SS16 Trends

Spring/Summer 2016. The moment I saw the collections I knew it would be my favorite season. When I saw the proposals for SS16 I immediately knew it was the birth of the tree B´s – the Bold, the Bright, the Beautiful.  And if flowers for Spring sounds a cliché you should try flowers with butterflies and bees. Oh, and let´s not forget about adding some stripes. It seems that all the greatest designers were willing to leave the minimalism behind and encourage the rise of a simple new rule – there are no rules in fashion.

If you thought “less is more” (but down deep you knew you wanted to look like a walking Pollock painting) this is your season. Statement pieces together look even more beautiful than apart. Details are everywhere. There is no color palette because every color is admissible. There is no specific shape because every shape is the perfect one.

In the end, your creativity will always help you to find your perfect outfit.

SS16 is giving us some of the best trends in a long time with one peculiarity. There are so many trends to explore that every single person will be able to identify themselves with some of those (if not almost all). That was the main reason why I was delighted to be part of the Farfetch competition and style some of the best trends from SS16 and hopefully give you some inspiration to create your own Spring/Summer outfits.

Farfetch is the address for 400 fashion boutiques from all around the world. 400 visionary fashion boutiques with the most inspirational pieces. Whenever I´m looking for inspiration, both their site and instagram account are 2 of my first sources.

Graphic patterns and stripes in general are definitely pieces that i´ll always buy. Playing with those prints it´s a thing you´ll probably find yourself doing a lot this season. Just combine the colors of the different patterns and wear what´s more visually appealing to you. If you think that specific polka dots shirt looks really good with a striped skirt, go for it.

When choosing the pieces to style this trend I knew I had to use the black top (from the first look) because it reminded me of an abstract painting. And what better to pair with it than those striped shorts? And because I didn´t think it was enough, I added textured espadrilles with a bit of pattern. The backpack it´s another great option for Spring Summer and you probably have seen a lot of those on street style snaps.

The second look includes an off-shoulder graphic dress (stripes again, I know… couldn´t resist) paired with golden earrings. Whenever I use off-shoulders shirts or dresses I opt for statement earrings and mostly no necklaces or a simple choker.  Lace up shoes seemed to me the best ones to pair with this dress and because pom poms are the perfect pop of color, I added the hat and the phone case.

To give the cold shoulder – intentionally cold. Ignoring someone completely.

Or it could be a SS16 trend that consists in showing your neckline and shoulders or just a bit of your shoulders – either way it will look amazing on you. The versatility of off-shoulder pieces (from dresses to all kind of shirts and tops) amazes me. There are so many perfect looks you can create using this trend. To show you this versatility I created two looks, one with jeans and the other with a dress. Because there´s nothing more elegant than showing your neckline and shoulders I accessorized both with different choker necklaces (a great 90´s revival). Simple but effective and you´re still elegant. I´ve been seeing a lot of off-shoulder shirts like the one from the second look and I always knew it would look very 70´s paired with flared jeans and platform shoes. There´s graphic Missoni pattern on the espadrilles to give both a bit of pattern and color to the outfit.

If you´d ask me what would be an “essential” for SS16 I would point the dress from the first look – the cold shoulder floral dress. Two trends in one dress. It´s what happens when bohemian meets chic. I wanted to give it an edgy touch, so I added a fringed bag and wedges.

For this trend I thought about light colors, beautiful maxi dresses and lace. One of best things about SS16 is that you´ll be seeing a lot of different silhouettes specially when it comes to dresses. Ruffles, lace culottes and denim on the shoes was my first way of interpreting this trend. The different shades of blue are a great example on how you can wear the same color and play with its variants. The trick is mixing lace with ruffles, it rarely fails when you have different textures.

Because I used a floral dress before – which was one of the first pieces I thought about when styling this trend – I choose a lace up dress with ruffles and (again) added the touch of edginess with boots and pattern.

I bet there was at least one day in your life when one of your first thoughts was “I wish I could just go outside in my pajamas”. Well, I had those thoughts. Now it´s a trend and the only contra is that you no longer have that “i´m already in my pajamas” excuse. They come in every pattern and shape just to give you that effortlessly chic look. When styling this trend I immediately knew I wanted a bold approach and not just a subtle silk PJ top with denim. Head-to-toe pyjamas was the coolest trend to style specially after seeing the selection of PJ´s Farfetch has and the wide range of patterns available.

The first look it´s edgier on purpose. I wanted to show you how versatile pyjama´s parts are.

I opted for stilettos on the second look because of the culottes. I couldn’t think of anything more stylish to wear with Pj culottes than those Alexander Wang shoes. Because it was a black and white combo, there´s a touch of gold and a bit of pattern on the bag.
