Because everybody loves a good gown, the third option (I must confess it´s the one I never choose) is all about long classical dresses and matching heels.
My intention was to make every single detail on the outfit stand out a bit plus give you an idea of what hairstyle and make-up you can pick. I prefer strong colors though I wouldn´t apply that to the 4th outfit – for that one I would say nudes and pastels.

Because your options shouldn´t only include heels – and because some heels clearly are not comfy thought we say they are marvelous – the second outfit inspiration is all about flats: moccasins; oxfords; loafers.

Every New Year´s Eve I have the same problem – what to wear. Should I pick a dress or a great pair of trousers? Do I want glitter on my clothes or not? And what a about the accessories and the shoes?
This year first inspirational board includes what I loved the most about 2014 when it comes to clothes and trends – metallics, black and white contrast, midi-skirts and crops.

It is fall/winter 2014/15 prodigious fabric. It is soft, it can give you a stunning shape or just ruin it (it is a very difficult fabric to wear).
But let’s start from the beginning: when Gucci had Tom Ford, back in 1994 (sure I was a little girl, but one with velvet details on her outfits, cause both my mother and grandmother have great taste!) and there was a red velvet suit – the same one Gwyneth Paltrow rocked on Mtv VMA’s.
Back then, velvet was expression of a grunge culture – and Tom Ford was probably the first designer to show how feminine and powerful a woman can look on a velvet tux.
Every year (specially on festive season) we go trough fall winter collections and stare at this magical fabric: it comes in a more conservative way (think about a black tux or a small detail on a shoe) or more audacious and bold (an emerald green dress or the eternal and fabulous royal blue).
Either way, designers gave us enough choices to pick the perfect velvet piece. From Saint Laurent to Alexander McQueen, J.Brand or Altuzarra for Target Collab, Emilio Pucci, Elie Saab and even Massimo Dutti – all offering the best options.
I must confess, every time I hear ‘the 90’s are back’ I tend to be very afraid. But somehow designers lately have taken the worst pieces (the crops, for example) and redesign them in order to achieve something great. Velvet is one of those pieces.

How to properly use velvet
Velvet can be super tricky to wear: in order to give you the perfect shape it mustn’t be to tight nor give much. You must be aware that velvet will start to loose shape eventually.
How to accessorize your velvet
With a full velvet look, I prefer golden accessories. The contrast between the soft dark yet shining fabric and a great golden bracelet and earrings or a statement necklace is beyond perfect. Think about the baroque trend to inspire yourself while accessorizing.
If you’re not much of an accessories person, I suggest another great trend: the silk scarf. Nothing goes better with velvet than the contrast of silk and the variety of padrons of silk scarves.
When It comes to choose the perfect shoes, I’d say stilettos.
Careful when choosing your accessories, you don’t want to take the whole holiday season to much seriously.

When talking about pros and cons of wearing one of this seasons biggest trend – the oversized coat – there’s always one con in particular that crosses my mind: loss of shape.
So when I first saw not the typical matching belt on an oversized coat but, instead, an actual belt I knew I had to take a look and try this trend.
Why I love it? It creates the perfect feminine figure either you add a belt on an oversized coat or a normal A line coat.
So if you want to be a bit more audacious and try on a separate coat and belt combo (like I do!) you have plenty of options and a few tips to keep in mind: the size of your belt does matter (you surely don’t want to end up ruining the amazing shape this trend can give you by choosing the wrong belt for your coat); the color and the material is also important (you may want to choose a contrasting color – like a burgundy belt for a grey coat – or a fantastic printed belt with a white coat. You can even try the metallic trend I told you about on a previous post by wearing a silver or golden belt with a black or dark blue coat).
Another interesting thing about this belt trend is how you can wear it with a blanket scarf or a cape. Since I elected winter oversized scarves my favorite accessory last fall/winter, I’m definitely going to apply this trend to it!

You’ve seen it for Spring 2014 with Yves saint Laurent and Proenza Schouler, and you probably thought ‘Hmm, why not a shimmering touch’. But the real issue will always be how to properly wear metallics without looking like a disco ball – struggle all the time to chose the right piece, pair it with right accessories, make up and hair. So, in the end, I usually keep it simple – choose one metallic great piece (like a pair of boots or a sweater) and mix it with other trends (when that piece is silver, I like to add some khaki or burgundy) or add that shining touch in the details (a statement necklace or Oxford shoes with a gold detail).

I must do a “mea culpa”… While I was focusing on Alexander Wang for H&M, this guy was conquering another collaboration. And what a collection! The French designer who just won the H&M Design Award 2014 was inspired by Tilda Swinton, in the movie “I am Love”, and by the french painter Ingres.
In the film, Swinton is Russian; she lives in Italy and wears Jil Sander outfits. It´s that idea of European exoticism that interested me.
The collection couldn´t be more interesting – including a maxi structured skirt that can be, when paired with different tops, worn during the day, or at a party at night; ruffles; lots of white; lots of patterns; wide pants.
Perfect for people who still like to add a bit of summer on their fall outfits and for people who love prints. I specially like the ruffles and the wide high waisted pants, both patterned and white.
I told you it was going to last…

As a very creative person, like I mentioned on a previous post, I seek for detail. Whenever I look at a streetstyle photo, I look for small details that make the person stand out. What is it that makes that outfit unique, besides the person?
Though I always loved (and will continue loving) great statement pieces – an embroidered sweater or printed trousers, a good jumper or even a fabulous dress – there are days when I fell like wearing a simple outfit, preferably with lots of black and White clothing, and make my statement on the accessories department.
This year, everytime I searched for street style photos I chose to see first the accessories selection. After that I did what I like to do the most – searched for the designers of those beautiful pieces.

After my One Lovely Blog Award post, when I revealed I had a huge crush on Russian IT girls, Lena, from Feline Creatures, said she´d love to see a post about those iconic ladies. Truth is, I´ve been thinking to do that kind of post for a while, but never thought to include them all.
This passion for Russian IT girls is part of a bigger thing – the admiration for Russian Culture, that I have since I was a little girl.
Though my blog is a recent thing, my internet stalking on these girls is much older. The first one that caught my attention was Miroslava Duma – still remember the first photo I saw, on a street style blog, and specially what she was wearing: a universe dress. Her adorable doll-like face, and the fact that she was extremely petite, combined with her notable taste for fashion, made me google her. A few minutes later, I was being introduced to the Russian IT girls.
Known for their national pride (as you can see from some of their looks but, mostly, the way they talk in interviews); exquisite taste; capability of bringing the inside of a couture collection to the streets and success both in the fashion industry and outside, they´ve been attentively observed by fashionistas all around the world and are frequently front row in the most exclusive and important fashion shows. There are several russian IT girls, but 5 in particular that I really love. 4 of them are part of what is called the Russian Fashion Pack – Miroslava Duma, Ulyana Sergeenko, Vika Gazinskaya and Elena Perminova. The 5ft girl is Anya Ziourova.

She’s The daughter of Russian senator Vasily Duma, and probably the most influential it girl. Always impeccable on street style photos, Mira Duma is even a trendsetter when it comes to maternity clothing. At the very young age of 24 she became the editor of Harper’s Bazaar Russia and later she co-founded the Buro 24/7, an amazing website permanently updated with the most exclusive fashion news.

After modeling and becoming a fashion magazine photographer, she launched her couture collection and started working as a designer. Her clothes are the mirror of Russian traditions and culture has they include many of its aspects.

Started her own line in 2006, this young designer is known for her extreme creativity and whimsical style details. Embroidery and bold are two words that describe her pieces.
Elena Perminova
This mother of two turns heads not only for her beauty but also for her creative taste. Every fashion photographer loves her and the question she’s most used to hear is ‘what are you wearing?’.
