Juna & Ethical Fashion

Supporting fast fashion is something that we´re all guilty of doing at some point. It´s cheaper (and we all love a good bargain), many of us won´t even know the difference and did I mention it´s cheaper? But do you know at what cost it´s cheaper for you?

Sometimes we come across disturbing newspaper articles mentioning big fashion groups´ scandals (price tags with desperate cries for help, for instances), trying to alert us to the issues of the so-called fast fashion. It doesn’t stop most of us from buying but at least it can help us make smarter choices regarding what and where we choose to buy. I didn´t understand much besides the obvious about what sustainable fashion was about and the negative impacts of fast fashion so I did a little research and it´s both an interesting and devastating topic.

Jewellery by Juna is an eco-friendly brand, using recycled sterling silver, fair trade gold and each piece is hand-crafted, making sure everyone involved in the process is fairly paid and well treated is one of their objectives. A beautiful blue gemstone necklace caught my eye and so that´s what I chose to style.

I was immediately impressed with the quality of the materials (chalcedony, iolite, sterling silver) and I asked for a longer length to have multiple options when it comes to style it (as you know, layering is kind of my thing when it comes to accessories plus the internet says it´s cool and trendy, so…).

juna4

Because of the beautiful pendant I often use it backward, with open back dresses or tops (which I’m counting to look way cooler during the summer when I finally get a proper tan…).

The necklace is just one of the many unique pieces Juna crafts. After this necklace, my favorites are the multiple stacks of rings. Everything is so minimal and tasteful that you can´t possibly go wrong when styling her pieces. Make sure to check Juna´s online store here and her website, which provides useful information on the crafting process and gives you an idea of what ethical fashion is.

I believe bloggers and influencers have an important role in this matter. With a big following come big responsibilities. At least I always saw it that way. Promoting sustainable fashion is one of the things I care about the most.

There are multiple ways of supporting slow fashion: buying vintage, choosing small companies (you can even help local and small businesses grow), create your own clothes (that´s a tricky one, I know, but it´s a childhood dream) or choosing quality over quantity (you´ll end up saving money with your long-term investment).

Would love to know your thoughts both on my beautiful necklace and sustainable fashion so you know what to do! 🙂

Bohème Lisboa

We all have that special jewelry piece. Maybe you carry it every day around your neck or wrist. Your lucky charm. Bohème Jewelry is the perfect place in Lisbon to find that meaningful piece – either you want to gift yourself or receive the “friend of the month” award.

Located in the heart of Avenida da Liberdade, it´s a little monochromatic store with a huge variety of trendy and quality jewelry. The owner is super nice and gives the most honest advice on what looks good on you and plenty of cool ideas to style your pieces.

One of the reasons why I loved this little store so much was because of the variety of styles. Not only modern minimal pieces but also typical Portuguese jewelry. If you´re Portuguese I´m sure you´re familiar with Filigrana. If you´re not, let me introduce you to one of the prettiest techniques Portuguese jewelry has (you can see it right above this text).

boheme5

As you might have already seen on my Instagram, I styled a few of my favorite pieces and I thought I´d only wear them during the summer but after a little Pinterest research (like 3 hours because you know how these things work… you start with layering jewelry and you end up choosing the color scheme for your bedroom) I can´t wait to layer my delicate necklaces with cool knitwear. Plus, it was impossible to wear neck scarves and bandanas with necklaces during summertime – which is something that I love to do.

The last two pieces were the ones I kept. I think I might have used the Turkish eye the entire summer, sometimes layered with the crescent moon sometimes all by itself. As for the crescent moon, it was one of the most wanted summer necklaces and this one and its pretty details just had to be mine 🙂

Don´t forget to check Bohème Lisboa Instagram page and in case you decide to pay a visit to Lisbon, don´t forget to stop by!

This post was a collaboration with Bohème Lisboa. All opinions are my own.

Audaviv Jewelry

After receiving so many kind and thoughtful messages about my accessory game I decided to share with you some tips and tricks. Truth is, everyday life is not a street style glam photo but of course everyone wants to look their best. That´s why during the week I spice up my accessory game with tasteful delicate pieces. Lots of them. The secret is to layer the right pieces properly and I guarantee you you´ll have the most stylish results without looking like a walking Christmas tree 😉

Having lots of jewelry, I came to the conclusion that what was missing in my collection were delicate pieces to give a sophisticated yet casual look. The thing is, I had delicate necklaces and bracelets but after a while they lose color and shine and gain that ugly used look – that´s when I don´t have the courage to neither throw them away nor use them.

So when I became an Audaviv Ambassador my first pieces were – of course – delicate bracelets to build the perfect arm candy. Audaviv is the destination for independent brands whose work was carefully handpicked so you get that very personalized treatment that otherwise you wouldn’t have while shopping and you won´t find that much people wearing the same thing as you (i´m still waiting for the necklaces I want to re-stock, so you get the idea). Plus, you won´t have to scroll and apply lots of filters to hide tacky jewelry (which is new to me, because I find myself constantly doing that).

I never wear only one necklace. More is more. When the choker obsession (oh God, what a terrible name for a necklace!) became a serious thing, I started layering chokers with small delicate necklaces, mostly with little charms. During summer it´s also cool to layer with body chains.

3

This is my everyday motto. I grab several small necklaces and layer them by adjusting each with different lenght. That way you´ll have a slighty longer necklace and all the others will have smaller lenghts. The necklaces below are the ones on my Audaviv wishlist. The second one is currently out of stock so I guess I´ll have to wait until it´s back so that I can finally releash my inner Sailor Moon 😉

4

5

Arm Candy – the act of putting together random (or not…) pretty bracelets and accessories. Lots of them. Since I have a watch addiction (always remeber this place is a non-judgemental zone) I like to begin my arm candy with a good watch. Then I´ll add the bracelets that I believe that look good with the watch (e.g. rose gold watch, rose gold bracelets). So as you can see my arm candy is usually planned and almost never random.

6

I almost never use rings and bracelets on the same hand because most of times the final combination seems tacky to me (but hey, that´s just me!). Usually I think it´s better balanced having the rings on one hand and the bracelets and watch on the other. I also combine the rings and the bracelets (e.g. golden bracelets with golden rings).

7

This is probably the only bright rose bracelet I own. Or piece of jewelry. Everything else has a dusty rose shade. The reason why I love it so much is because it´s only one bracelet but looks like two (which means more layers therefore more hapiness to me). Because I´m a monochrome addict this bracelet is often the only pop of color. And trust me, it makes all the difference!

8

I wear my bracelets backwards all the time (and not because they slide – good thing about these beauties it´s they´re adjustable. It´s probably the first time I own jewerly that doesn´t fall off my tiny wrists). Just take a closer look. Wouldn´t it be a shame not to wear them both ways? You´ll also get 10 points for creativity.

9

Of course being an accessory lover I always pay attention to the details. Style is always in the details. In this case, the golden chain on my bag matches my little bracelets.

10

When you shop at Audaviv you feel special (and don´t we all like that?). You get your jewelry inside a gorgeous pink box perfect both on the inside and outside. Light pink paper, little bags with your order inside, a card, instructions on how to take care of your new pieces, … I think you´re getting the idea. That´s the thing about choosing startups – not only you´re supporting creative people but you´re also receiving in exchange what you wouldn´t get otherwise. Quality, personalization and a bunch of unique pieces.

how-to-2

As always would love to know your thoughts so meet me on the comment section 😉
