This post was a collaboration with Swedish Stockings. The items were gifted. All opinions are my own.
Back in 2007 major style lessons were taught to young teens. Every time I heard Your one and only source into the scandalous life of Manhattans elite I knew I was about to see the latest trends and how to bravely style them. Being a major Blair fan I started to wonder why did I even question my mother when she told me that red tights were perfectly okay with tartan skirts.
Years have passed and recent trend reports as well as catwalk photos show me that it is time to put in practice every stocking style lesson I learned. Should we thank Gucci for invading instagram with its patterned hosiery? I should think so, yes.
But now the real world part of this major trend… The textile industry is the second most polluting industry in the world. If you’re anything like me, you might have been contributing to this waste, specially when it comes to hosiery. Why? Well, tights and socks always seemed to be a one use only garment due to poor quality (note that lack of quality doesn’t necessarily mean cheap hosiery), ready to be thrown away after the first ripped mesh. Sure I used nail polish for minor incidents, sure some of them lasted a bit longer. Not many. Still a waste. To make everything worst I might just be one of the very few people who thinks jeans are not that comfy so skirts, dresses, pants are my safe comfy option. Meaning I have a drawer filled with folded hosiery which is constantly being updated due to lack of quality. So allow me to introduce you to Swedish Stockings, a sustainable brand well aware of how hosiery is a wasteful business.
A BIT ABOUT SWEDISH STOCKINGS
They’re the only sustainable hosiery brand in the world. They create their pantyhose from both pre and post-consumer nylon waste. The production process is a lot less harmful to the environment than traditional nylon production and they are consistently looking for innovative and cleaner ways to produce. They also have a recycling program, meaning they receive your old stockings from other brands and give you a discount code to buy new ones. Thousands of stockings have been recycled thanks to their recycling program. Pretty cool, right?
As for my looks, I had a lot of fun playing with colors, textures and prints. When it comes to hosiery you have endless options. Personally I don’t like seeing short net socks with jeans, I prefer them with pants (but this is a matter of personal style). Over the knee socks will always be a favorite of mine. Got those Clueless vibes and they´re a (good) journey to the 90´s, what’s not to love? You can wear them with over the knee boots and barely letting them show, with heels or flats. I only avoid wearing them with Chelsea boots since I don’t like to see the different lengths. When it comes to opaque tights, what I love the most is to play color block. Create your own color scheme and play with contrasts.
ARE THEY WORTH BUYING?
In my opinion, they are. Specially the tights. I was really impressed with the fabrics´ quality (and trust me, I tested it all because I’m a mess when it comes to hosiery). If you take good care of them I believe they’ll last longer than the usual.
Are you into this FW trend? What’s your favorite? Let me know all about it below 🙂
Daily outfits on Instagram are great. Sharing those fabulous looks, making the photos seem so effortless… I’m truly happy that it seems pretty normal to have someone next to you, ready to capture your most fabulous self almost every day.
Now the ugly truth – ain’t nobody got time for that. Unless that’s your job (which let’s face it, it rarely is) none of us feels or looks that fabulous every morning. And allow me to tell you a secret… Most of us don’t have personal photographers 24/7 ready to capture those cool street style snaps.
Since the very beginning that has been my main struggle – finding the time and the people available to take the not-so-occasional #ootd shots.
The solution to supply your demands? The mirror selfie. The real quick effortless solution that I adopted almost 3 years ago. The location? The elevator. Occasionally the big mirror downstairs but since people tend to stare while passing by and to prevent my neighbors from thinking I’m nothing but a narcissist, the elevator is definitely my favorite location.
So for the sake of keeping it real (and because there is a huge amount of storage occupied with ootd selfies) I took the liberty of gathering some of my most acceptable mirror #ootd’s from the past year and share them here with you.
I promise that one day I’ll be a street style star. But for now, allow me to shine on my elevator 😌
…and by “the inside” I mean underwear. Wearing cool matching underwear always made me feel like I had everything in life together – even if it was just for a bit. Something about it that makes me feel great. Maybe it´s the hype about the Victoria Secret show maybe not. Either way, I´ll leave you with several options to take your underwear and nightwear to the streets 😉
DISCLAIMER: This post is a collaboration with Printworks. All opinions are my own.
I hate seeing everyone wearing and using the same clothes, accessories and even stationary. Anyway, I apologize for the outburst – it was probably because my Instagram search page is only showing people by the pool and having a wonderful time on the Italian Riviera. My point being – I love personalized accessories and frankly, who doesn’t? That wonderful feeling of exclusivity and expression of one´s self… Ah…
I found Printworks through Instagram and I knew I had just found the most perfect accessories for my precious gadgets (and myself, of course).
Printworks is a Swedish design company focused on personalized gifts, accessories, lifestyle products that make everyday life much more fun (that´s why you can catch me staring at my laptop case or iPhone case when I really should be getting work done). So how does this personalization thing work, you smartly ask. Easy – you can choose from a wide range of cool stickers your favorites and show the world your creative side! Combine them the way you like and voilá! I was amazed by the quality of the materials and their resistance (my cat caught me distracted and had a very long nap in my laptop case…). Once you put the stickers on they stick perfectly on the leather.
I chose to personalize my laptop case with my blog initials (my brother smartly noted that the stickers have the Gryffindor´s House colors *geek moment* and I got even happier because I´m obviously a lion) and my iPhone case with a F sticker (hello, I´m Filipa, a Fashion-addict and Food lover who´ll always be waiting for Friday). Good stationary and accessories always motivate me to work and since I´m on vacations from college I decided it was about time to post here more frequently – one thing led to the other and here we are!
But I gotta be honest here – it would be a shame to use this laptop case for laptop purposes only… So I´ve been using it A LOT as a clutch everywhere I go (from the poolside to the casual night drinks).
So on a scale of 1 – 10 how much do you love personalized accessories? Let me know in the comments section! A little bird told me Printworks is having a summer sale so make sure you stop by 😉
Supporting fast fashion is something that we´re all guilty of doing at some point. It´s cheaper (and we all love a good bargain), many of us won´t even know the difference and did I mention it´s cheaper? But do you know at what cost it´s cheaper for you?
Sometimes we come across disturbing newspaper articles mentioning big fashion groups´ scandals (price tags with desperate cries for help, for instances), trying to alert us to the issues of the so-called fast fashion. It doesn’t stop most of us from buying but at least it can help us make smarter choices regarding what and where we choose to buy. I didn´t understand much besides the obvious about what sustainable fashion was about and the negative impacts of fast fashion so I did a little research and it´s both an interesting and devastating topic.
Jewellery by Juna is an eco-friendly brand, using recycled sterling silver, fair trade gold and each piece is hand-crafted, making sure everyone involved in the process is fairly paid and well treated is one of their objectives. A beautiful blue gemstone necklace caught my eye and so that´s what I chose to style.
I was immediately impressed with the quality of the materials (chalcedony, iolite, sterling silver) and I asked for a longer length to have multiple options when it comes to style it (as you know, layering is kind of my thing when it comes to accessories plus the internet says it´s cool and trendy, so…).
Because of the beautiful pendant I often use it backward, with open back dresses or tops (which I’m counting to look way cooler during the summer when I finally get a proper tan…).
The necklace is just one of the many unique pieces Juna crafts. After this necklace, my favorites are the multiple stacks of rings. Everything is so minimal and tasteful that you can´t possibly go wrong when styling her pieces. Make sure to check Juna´s online store here and her website, which provides useful information on the crafting process and gives you an idea of what ethical fashion is.
I believe bloggers and influencers have an important role in this matter. With a big following come big responsibilities. At least I always saw it that way. Promoting sustainable fashion is one of the things I care about the most.
There are multiple ways of supporting slow fashion: buying vintage, choosing small companies (you can even help local and small businesses grow), create your own clothes (that´s a tricky one, I know, but it´s a childhood dream) or choosing quality over quantity (you´ll end up saving money with your long-term investment).
Would love to know your thoughts both on my beautiful necklace and sustainable fashion so you know what to do! 🙂
Remember Standfor? Well, I´m happy to announce you my newest collaboration with this amazing Portuguese brand. And you already know how this works: new collection means new statement. This time, we´re walking for One Gender.
We´re all humans. And that´s the only “gender” that matters. Because we´re not all equal – each and every one of us has a different personality, different tastes, different ways to express ourselves (fashion being just one of them). But we´re all human and that makes us equal regardless of gender. And that, my loves, is a very dear topic to me.
This collection was designed accordingly to the latest fashion trends (floral prints anyone?) and it´s based on strong powerful ideas such as acceptance, harmony, power, balance, merit.
The shoes you´re seeing in the photos might not be a very obvious choice for someone who loves monochromatic outfits as I do but they were love at first sight – again. They stand for balance and respect, two of the things that I value the most in a relationship between two people.
Just like other collections, you can check your hikes counter and see how much you´ve walked in your shoes while making your own statement to the world.
I paired them with a total black look (and a teddy coat ´cause it´s freezing) because something so colorful and fun should receive as much attention as possible.
As always, would love to know your thoughts on this matter so meet me in the comment section 🙂

When I first wrote about the Pajama Trend I knew I was dying to try it – I mean, going out in your pj and look that good, for real? What a dream. But I never found THE right one. So I never got to style that trend. That is, of course, until now.
When the opportunity to collaborate with Silk By Nancy came I knew right away I had to choose this white pj shirt. It was the missing luxurious monochromatic piece I was looking for to rock the PJ trend.
The title says it all: this silk beauty is the perfect fit. I´m not going to lie, it was hard styling this shirt. I blame the crazy amount of outfit options I came up with. Everything from culottes to palazzo pants and pleated skirts. Sneakers and stilettos. That´s why – SPOILER ALERT – this is not the last time you´ll be seeing this shirt around here. Allow me to be your guide on “How To Style The PJ trend – round 2” and reveal the secrets you need to know to go out in public wearing your pj´s.
As a monochrome lover, I felt like I owed to the monochromatic Gods this first look. I went for high waist mom jeans to give the edgy touch and contrast with the classy shirt. The pumps are my all time favorite (bought them using a wedding as an excuse) and the only pop of color that this outfit needed. Besides from the lipstick (always add lipstick. Makes everything better). And because I always need to have a bit of print, a starry scarf.
In a world where you can´t walk down the street without finding someone wearing something that you also have (or worst, that you are wearing), brands like Silk By Nancy make you feel unique again. For someone who is slowly building a wardrobe with quality pieces, I must confess: a silk piece is a must have. Too soft, too luxurious, too stylish. Make sure you stop by and check their variety of silk pieces.
Aw, don´t I look happy wearing my pj shirt? 🙂 How about you, what´s your relation with this Pj trend and silk luxurious pieces?
This post was made in collaboration with Silk By Nancy. All opinions are my own.
(Now that was a long title) I guess it´s safe to say that I’ve been wearing on repeat several pieces that I now consider my personal must-haves.
When people who never notice anything fashion related start telling you that you´ve been wearing a lot the same pieces, I guess it´s safe to say that you´ve found your personal must-haves. I´ll probably be (over)packing them for summer vacations as well.
I must confess I´ve never seen so many different retro sunglasses in one season. Remember when EVERYONE had a pair of Ray Ban´s wayfarer? That was the time I got my Ray Ban´s Clubmaster. You know, ´cause someone had to be different. Next year everyone had them as well. That marked an entire season. But now we are assisting to a comeback of many different retro styles. From white round to colored lenses, that´s THE accessory to make you feel instantly cooler. Go on, re-create that Kurt Cobain iconic photo. My white sunnies are from Mango, they were love at first sight because they remind me of an old photo of my grandma wearing a very similar pair of sunnies.
This is probably the most Instagrammed (is this a word?) accessory of the season. I had this little round bag under my eyes for a while, hoping to get it on sales. She was nowhere to be seen online or in the stores. Then, on the most depressing day of my semester, I went to Zara and there she was. The last one on the shelf. We have been living happily ever since.
The bigger one I occasionally steal from my mom and style it with a scarf to match my outfit. I know it’s a classic beach bag, but since I´m not that much of a beach fan, I love wearing it in the city.
Why do you need a straw bag this summer? You can wear it everywhere unless you´re going to a cocktail party, it´s the easiest bag to style because it goes so well with all those typical summer clothes, you´ll never get bored of that bag because it´s seasonal.
I´m a hat person. It solves bad hair days, it gives that retro touch, it protects you from burning your brains in the summer and helps you face humidity during those awful rainy days. This is an old one from Natura and the black bow was a little DIY. Apart from a tracksuit, straw hats go with everything from tees&jeans to pretty dresses. Plus they add that instant “I’m on vacations” look.
Minimals will wear them with plain tees. Bold people with graphic prints. Either way, everyone is loving statement earrings (just read it here). Apart from getting stuck in my curls, I´m also a fan. Usually, I wear them with my hair up in a bun or ponytail and with basically everything. After seeing some of your inspiring photos on Instagram I decided I didn´t have enough earrings and bought the last pair on Bershka (I know, right? It was a surprise to me as well.).
You´ve seen them on my Instagram a lot and – spoiler alert – you will keep seeing them. More than earrings, during hot summer days there is nothing that I love more than wearing delicate necklaces. Most of the times I barely remember they´re hanging on my neck (which makes them perfect for this awful heat) yet they´re there, keeping me fashionable. This one was kindly sent to me by Aphrodite and it adds that cool boho chic vibe. I love the fact that it looks two necklaces yet it´s just one with layers.
And because you have to think outside the box, I styled it in two different ways. In the first one (as seen in the picture) I didn´t close the necklace clasp and just wrapped the necklace around my neck so it looks like a little choker and a bigger necklace. How to style delicate necklaces like a cool girl? Wear them with a tee, for sure. And make sure they´re not hiding. Also, summer necklines are perfect to show this kind of jewelry and the more the merrier.

I´d love to hear all about your accessories´ must haves and your opinion on mine, so see you in the comment section 😉
Disclaimer: the necklace was given to me by Aphrodite. Styling and opinions are my own.
For those of you struggling to put your phone down for more than a few miserable minutes, meet Phubbing, a XXI century modern disease. ‘But Filipa, what is that Phubbing thing?’ Well, I’m glad you asked!
Phubbing (=phone + snubbing). At some point, we’ve all been guilty of this practice. Who never neglected a friend during a coffee to be checking social media? Who never disconnected from the real world once in a while just because nothing exciting was happening around? The problem is when this becomes a habit. When taking photos of what you’re eating is more important than who’s sitting in front of you. How sad is it to see a couple eating their fancy meal yet not enjoying each other’s company because they’re both holding their phones?
Let me get one thing straight: I love technology. Besides I’m blogger, which makes me a result of this wonderful technological advance. When it comes to checking my phone, I’m not so bad… most of the times I ignore it completely. It stays either inside my bag or next to me with the screen turned down. But there comes a time when I want to photograph things around me. Could I survive without taking a photo of that pretty sushi before eating it? Of course. But life is short, you gotta collect those beautiful yummy moments to look at them days, months after that meal is gone and think ‘oh boy, that was one hell of a sushi’. Once I’m done photographing, no more phone for me. I like to think that me and my phone have a healthy relationship and I still believe that the best moments are the ones you forget to photograph because you’re too busy having fun.
‘Oh, I see now… but I thought this post was about fashion…’ – and it is, dearest reader. Allow me to introduce Standfor.
Standfor was one of my first collaborations when I created my blog. I was thrilled when I found out that they were a Portuguese shoe brand and I instantly loved their concept. Behind every shoe collection there is a different statement, a reason for people to walk for. We all stand for something and we can all make a difference. That’s what makes them so special. Their newest collection’s theme is Quit Phubbing.
They were kind enough to let me choose a pair of shoes and these gray boots smiled at me. I especially love the modern design and the sole – I’m literally walking in the clouds! If you ever heard of Portuguese shoes, you know they’re known for their quality and good materials. My Standfor boots are the perfect example of that. They’re leather free, super comfortable and light, which makes them ideal to wear all year long.
I styled them with a suede mini skirt, an oversized t-shirt, fishnets and of course, a scarf (you all know that my life would be incomplete without a good scarf!).
Make sure to check out their website to learn more about phubbing and enjoy your gift card ( kUy7uG8C ) 😉
As always, I’d love to know your thoughts. Were you aware of this concept? Meet me in the comment section! 🙂
